Viñedos y Bodegas de la Marquesa
In the second half of the 19th century the Marquis de la Solana started making and ageing wines following the advice of the famous Bordeaux wine maker Mr. Pineau, using wine making methods from the Medoc. Bodegas de la Marquesa is still to this day family owned and is run by the fourth generation, Juan Pablo de Simon and his children, Pablo, Jaime and Maria.
The winery has its own vineyards which are primarily Tempranillo that are located in the best area of Rioja Alavesa. This guarantees the high quality of the grapes with which they make their wines.
To compliment the Tempranillo they also have vineyards where they grow Graciano, Mazuelo, Garnacha and Viura grapes.

Bodegas de la Marquesa owns very old vineyards which produce a tiny quantity of grapes which guarantee the high quality of its exceptional wines. These wines are world renown and have an exceptional track record.
The family run winery is located in Villabuena, in Rioja Alavesa and is made up of various stone buildings in the centre of the village: an office building, a tasting room and a dining room for people who come to visit. Alongside the main building there is a warehouse which is linked to the house by underground caves where the wines are made and aged.
